The Students visited Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Gurugram, to gain practical insight into the mechanism of child adoption and the role of the Committee in safeguarding children under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the Protection of Children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and other related laws.
During the visit, the students attended an informative session delivered by Sh. Sunil Kohli, Chairperson CWC, along with Smt. Upasana Sachdeva and Smt. Kamal Yadav, esteemed members of the committee.
The CWC plays a crucial role in overseeing the welfare of orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children and guiding them through legal adoption process. The Members explained the statutory framework, eligibility criteria, and documentation requirement for adoption.
