To enhance their practical understanding of consumer law, the students visited the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Gurugram, where they observed hearings of consumer disputes.
They witnessed the application of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, along with relevant principles of civil procedure, and evidentiary requirements in real cases. The visit provided students with valuable insights into India’s three-tier Consumer Dispute Redressal System – comprising the District, State, and National Commissions and their role in protecting consumer rights.
Interactions with Presiding Officers and legal practitioners further clarified procedural intricacies, judicial reasoning, and the practical application of consumer law.
