On October 18, 2023, the B.S. Anangpuria School of Law collaborated with the Faridabad District Jail to host a ‘Legal Awareness Camp’ centered on the ‘Rights of Prisoners.’ This event sought to provide valuable insights into the legal rights and conditions of prisoners, offering an enlightening experience for all participants.

The Camp, graciously facilitated by the Jail Superintendent and the District Legal Service Authority, saw eager law students stepping into the world behind bars. They embarked on a journey that expanded their understanding of prison life.

As the students roamed through the jail, they found themselves immersed in a world of transformative initiatives, economic empowerment, and prisoner rehabilitation. They uncovered hidden treasures within the prison’s walls, such as a library, an E-library, workshops, and small manufacturing units where inmates harnessed their skills for a meaningful purpose.

Creativity blossomed within the prison walls as prisoners crafted impressive paintings and sculptures, some of which were later showcased in auctions. The students, deeply moved by the experience, enjoyed a heartfelt performance of patriotic songs in the Jail Auditorium. They also had the privilege of witnessing the impactful efforts of the India Vision Foundation, led by Dr. Kiran Bedi.

In the midst of all the activity, they made their way to the kitchen where individuals prepared lunch and participated in insightful Q&A sessions with the prison officials. This exceptional encounter broke down stereotypes, uncovering the human aspect of those within the facility. It was a day filled with empathy and enlightenment, leaving the students with a deep understanding of life in confinement.
