Students from our college visited the District Jail, Neemka, as a part of their academic project. The students had a discussion with the inmates and conducted a survey on how many prisoners have advocates. They also observed the health conditions of the inmates. The visit enabled the students to gain an idea as to how due to various circumstances, prisoners commit crimes and land in jail. Later the students interacted with the Superintendent of the prison, who took them around the campus and showed them the reformative activities for the female inmates, such as counseling services, cultural programs, vocational training programs, yoga, games, meditation and literacy program etc. He explained about such activities and how prisoners get involved and keep busy on everyday basis.
