B.S. Anangpuria Institute of Law organized a student visit to Punjab and Haryana high court. Students visited various courtrooms to observe the court proceedings. The visit was aimed at making the students aware of the functioning of various bodies of justice and to make them learn the high court procedures and the process followed for delivering quick administrative justice to people. The students got an insight into the legal ability to issue a writ petition. They also learned about the Right of Constitutional Remedies, which works as a guarantor for all the other fundamental rights established by the Indian constitution.

The Supreme Court Issues Writ to enforce any fundamental rights under Article 32 of the Indian Constitution. Students got to learn about the five different types of writ petitions, which one can file either before the High Court or the Supreme Court. They are:

  • Habeas Corpus
  • Mandamus
  • Prohibition
  • Certiorari
  • Quo Warranto

Students thoroughly enjoyed the excursion trip and attained crucial academic insights. Besides the High Court visit, students were also taken for an outing to some of the famous places of Chandigarh, such as Sukhna Lake, which is an enjoyable picnic spot – peaceful, neat, and clean. It’s not only the lake which is a beautiful sight, but if you look upwards, you can see the clear blue skyline. It was again a delighting experience for the students to see the creative stuff made out of junk or recycled material at Rock Garden of Chandigarh.

Overall, the day was filled with positivity and endowed the students with a galore of opportunities to learn as well as enjoy.
